Solidarity with Immigrant Neighbors

  • George Floyd Mural 599 Ferry Street Lafayette, IN 47901 (map)

The Greater Lafayette Interfaith Clergy (GLIC) will gather at the George Floyd mural at noon on January 31, 2026, and walk together to the Tippecanoe County Courthouse for a public, faith-based witness grounded in Micah 6:8. Clergy from many traditions will read a shared statement affirming welcome, dignity, and justice, and standing in solidarity with immigrant siblings harmed by policies of fear. Community members are invited to follow in a ministry of presence and solidarity.

Clergy are encouraged to wear symbols of their office from their respective faith traditions. This gathering is not partisan, but pastoral and prophetic. It reflects the shared conviction across faith traditions that justice, compassion, and hospitality are essential to the moral health of our community. The Greater Lafayette Interfaith Clergy offer this witness as an act of hope, solidarity, and moral clarity, calling our community to choose welcome over fear and love over division.
